1998 The University of Maryland and supervision of Pompeii sign an agreement of Archaeological Park establishment
1999 The American Academy in Rome becomes a sponsor of the project
2001 The commune of Castellammare di Stabia and Campania region join the project by signing an agreement of Archaeological Park establishment
2002 The Ministry of Culture in Italy and Campania region create the RAS Foundation
2007 Creation of the Vesuvian Institute – international research center and the residence of the RAS Foundation
